  • Saving the planet One Percent at a time

Whether you’re a water sign, a beach bum, whale watcher, free diver or land locked, the ocean is crucial to us all.

You may have noticed we proudly plaster the 1% For The Planet logo on our branding, website, packaging and may as well have it tattooed on us by this point! Little Urchin are proud contributors to the 1% For the Planet initiative.

1% for the Planet is an organization that challenges both businesses and individuals to direct at least one percent of their income towards environmental projects. They work with many non-profit organizations and have donated over $225 million since 2002.

Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, created 1% for the Planet and started a worldwide movement.

“1% for the Planet is a global movement inspiring businesses and individuals to support environmental solutions through annual membership and everyday actions."

This means that every financial year, Little Urchin contribute 1% of our gross sales to this cause. It’s not just us, we stand alongside some incredible names in the sustainable space such as Patagonia, Spell & The Gypsy, Pukka Tea and more than 2,700 other business members! As well as an expanding community of individual members supporting thousands of nonprofit partners in more than 60 countries.

That's right, you don't need to be a business to contribute to this initiative, you can register to donate your 1% annually as an individual!

So where does 1% go?
One Percent for the Planet have worked to build a network of non-profit organisations in 6 key areas - climate, food, land, pollution, water and wildlife, all supported through the donations of their members

We all can do far more together than we can alone.
